CONTROLLED CHAOS
By Eric Son
As an artist, I am deeply inspired by the fluidity and versatility of Asian ink. This traditional medium has a rich history in East Asian art, and I am constantly drawn to its ability to convey both simplicity and complexity with a few brushstrokes. My art is heavily influenced by pop culture, which emphasizes the use of characters from movies, games, and anime. Therefore, my art represents the intersection of traditional fine art style with modern thematic characters and storylines. For me, working with Asian ink is a meditative process. Each brushstroke is deliberate and intentional, yet there is also an element of spontaneity and unpredictability. I am always amazed at how the ink interacts with the paper, creating unique textures and patterns. In my art, I aim to capture the essence of nature and the beauty of the world around us. I am fascinated by the interplay between light and shadow, and the subtle nuances of color that can be found in even the simplest of objects.Through my use of Asian ink, I hope to bring a sense of tranquility and mindfulness to the viewer. I believe that art has the power to connect us to something greater than ourselves, and I am grateful for the opportunity to share my vision with others.
